More site, more platforms

After releasing an updated teaser with improved music, I made one final push to get the site ready for a broader announcement to friends and coworkers. One thing I noticed is that while many people enjoy the Discord experience, others don’t – at all. Contrary to my earlier expectations, a lot of folks still rely on email for communication. As a result, I had to update my static site script to include blog posts. This change makes it easier for random site visitors to stay informed and allows future email communications to link to status updates available on the web. I’m getting much better at using the Hugo and Bootstrap.js, so it only took a few hours to get everything working.

All other pages received updates as well. It’s now much easier to sign up for the mailing list, and the Outsider teaser is available to anyone who visits the Game page. With all these changes, I can say that the week was dominated by marketing and advertising efforts, which I believe to be a worthwhile investment for a boutique game maker like Galantrix.

With that said, I decided it’s time to start generating content, so I wrote a 1,000+ word introduction to the story! This was only possible after last week’s breakthrough, which “unlocks” not only further story development but also work on the art and music composition workflows. I also set up source control during the week, so everything I do from now on will be nicely versioned instead of just relying on raw backups.

Lastly, I made the decision to support Linux and Mac as launch platforms for Outsider. I’ve been hesitant to spread myself thin by supporting anything beyond PC, but after some strategic thinking I decided that we must support all three platforms from day one.
